Just Checking In...

I know it's been a little while since I've posted, so I decided to give a little update on what we've been up to...

First, we had a nice Easter. We stayed home this year and the kids got to have 2 egg hunts! Unfortunately, the Easter Bunny must have hidden a couple of eggs too hard, and I think they are still missing in our house somewhere! Luckily, the kids found all of the "real" eggs that they colored (although I'm sure Drake could've helped us find any of those that went unfound). I'm hoping to strike gold someday as I am cleaning. This has happened to me before. I think it was last year. A couple months after Easter I was dusting (and, no I didn't go two months without dusting), when I came across a plastic egg! And it had chocolate in it! Yes, I ate it!

Also, as I said before, we are in full swing for soccer. The kids' games got moved out to the new Redding Soccer Park. It's an awesome new soccer park the city just built. The fields are the artificial turf, so lucky us, we get to play in the rain! So far, the past two weekends have been rainy for their games. Oh joy! Today we were out there from 8:30am - 1:30pm. Raegan had a doubleheader today. It didn't rain for her first game at 8:30, but by the time Riley's game started at 10:30, it was raining pretty good. We got soaked, and it was freezing! Raegan played really well, as usual, but the big news of the day is that RILEY SCORED A GOAL!!! And I have to add that it wasn't one of those fluke goals either. It was awesome! He was up front, and received a great pass. He turned and dribbled past another player straight for the goal and took the most awesome shot I have ever seen him take! I was so excited I was jumping up and down, and, ok, I'll even admit this...I almost teared up! You see, Riley is not normally a very motivated soccer player. He's kinda a whiner and an observer. He's usually a one kick and stop kind of player. I'm not sure if it was because Casey was there or what, but holy cow, I've never seen him play like that! He was so proud of himself, it was so cute. It really helped boost his self esteem. So awesome. I wish I had it on video.

Look What I Did...

Ok, so I kept telling myself that the one thing I wanted to accomplish over Spring Break was to clean out my pantry. I've been putting it off since forever, and it desperately needed some attention! I wish I would've taken a "before" shot so you could see how different it looks now. Well, maybe not, it was pretty embarrassing (and gross). It took me most of the day on Thursday, but I did it! I filled 3 large garbage bags of trash and added a few items to my Yard Sale pile. And here it is...

Now I go into my pantry several times a day just to admire it. (Ok, I know that's a little weird) For once, I can see everything in there (including the floor!) It even smells good in there now. I scrubbed each shelf and the floor. It smells brand new! Now if I could only get that motivated to clean all the rooms that well...

Meet Mr. Bean

Ok, so you know how I said earlier that I can't just be working on one knitting project at a time? Well, here is my latest completed project...meet Mr. Bean. I saw the pattern for him on Etsy,

http://www.etsy.com , a great website where people sell handmade items or patterns. I thought he was so cute that I ordered the pattern. He didn't take that long to make. I want to make another one because there are a few things I'm not quite satisfied with how they turned out. First, his ears need to be bigger I think. I also don't like how I embroidered his nose. And I think I overstuffed is arms, so they don't hang right. I also didn't do that great of a job sewing on his arms and legs. But those things aside, he still is pretty cute and was fun to make. I have never knit a toy before, so I guess I can't expect my first one to be perfect, huh?

Here's another layout I did the other day. I really like how this one turned out. These are some more pictures taken on our trip to the coast. I just bought the frames for the pictures off a website and had to play with them. I love how they look like they're popping off the page! Remember, this is totally digital!
