Still Stuck in Limbo...

We had a nice Thanksgiving again this year. It was my mom's turn to cook the turkey, so I just brought a couple of side dishes. Casey's parents came up as well, and we all stuffed ourselves at my parents' house. That means I have Christmas dinner at my house this year. I am so not ready for it to be Christmastime. Not only have I not bought one single present yet, but I've been having a two day battle with our Christmas tree. So far the tree is winning and my patience is wearing extremely thin! As usual, we went up into the local mountains the day after Thanksgiving to chop down our tree. This part went off without a hitch. The next day, I decided to begin tackling the lights. I can see why people buy pre-lit Christmas trees. After several hours and one aching back, I finally got all the lights on the tree. Did I mention there were a couple of strands of lights that had a section in the middle of them that refused to light? After a few choice swear words and lots of jiggling, I was able to get most of the lights to come on. Ok, so there's still one branch that refuses to light. I'm over it and have moved on. So, then I start to string the little red beads from the branches, when suddenly... TIMBER!!! Yes, the tree fell straight to the ground! After a few more choice swear words (this time in my head because the kids were standing there), I lifted the tree back into its upright position. It was still pretty wobbily, so I kinda propped it up against the wall. This morning Casey helped me tighten everything back up, and it seemed to be secure. So, I carefully removed the red beads I had started to string yesterday because they got all messed up in the fall. I started over again with the beads and everything was going smoothly when suddenly...WOAH...WOAH! Nice catch, Lori! Yes, the damn tree almost fell over again!! Unfortunately, Casey was on his way out the door to work, so the tree is propped up against the wall once again, still undecorated. I think I heard it snickering at me when I walked by it awhile ago. Stupid tree.
